What does it mean to be a volunteer? Well let us take a look at the definition "Volunteer."

> a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task.
> a person who works for an organization without being paid.
> a person who freely enrolls for military service rather than being conscripted, especially a member
of a force formed by voluntary enrollment and distinct from the regular army.

Now let us take a look at the meaning behind the meaning.
The position of it all...
> freely offer to do something.
"he volunteered for the job"
> offer (help).
"he volunteered his services as a driver for the convoy"
"I volunteered my services"
> say or suggest something without being asked.
"it never paid to volunteer information"
> work for an organization without being paid.
"he volunteered as a driver"
> commit (someone) to a particular undertaking, typically without consulting them.
"he was volunteered for parachute training by friends"

As to one who helps it confers that Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain "to benefit another person, group or organization".[1] Volunteering is also renowned for skill development and is often intended to promote goodness or to improve human quality of life. Volunteering may have positive benefits for the volunteer as well as for the person or community served.[2] It is also intended to make contacts for possible employment. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work, such as medicine, education, or emergency rescue. Others serve on an as-needed basis, such as in response to a natural disaster.

Now we have to ask you, have you volunteered at your local Moose Lodge, we are always looking for help in any shape or form. Be great-full there is a Moose Lodge in your area, we would not be where we are today without the volunteers that help build it.

Hello Brothers and Co-Worker

We are doing a few new fundraisers around the town to help out the local businesses and would like you to donate and help out. A few of the fundraisers include a Pulltab Drive for the Ronald McDonald House in which Norm McCabe started and we want to keep it going. Then we are collecting any and all alluminum cans for our Local Diversified Services Inc Recycling Plant. Another Fundraisers we are doing is since Moose International stopped collecting Printer Ink Cartridges and old phones, we started to donate them to our Local Library to help them with their cause on keeping the environment cleaned up. And last but not least, we as a lodge will be collecting beer bottle caps for a Scholarship to a Local Resident of Torrington. It may not be much, but every bit helps.

So do what you can to help out and we all can make a differnece.

Fraternally Yours
Derek Baker
